Triumphs and Trials: EMBOLDEN Action Celebrating Three Years of Transforming Businesses

Updated: Sep 1, 2023

June marked the third anniversary of EMBOLDEN Action, and I decided to take to the blog to reflect on my journey with my team as I feel a profound sense of gratitude for everything that has happened in the past couple of years.

I'm thrilled to share the journey, the peaks and valleys I have traveled, the milestones reached, and the invaluable lessons I have learned.

I hope this blog inspires and maybe even motivates you to make BOLD decisions.

The BOLD Journey

Three years ago, I started EMBOLDEN Action amid a global pandemic. A frightening but necessary leap that turned out to be rewarding for me and my team. At the time, fear acted as a catalyst and continuous motivation pushing me forward with hopes that I would eventually reach my goal. I can now say, mission accomplished!

At first, of course, it was quite nerve-wracking. Still, building upon a successful executive career within a national non-profit, I brought a wealth of experience in change management, C-suite leadership coaching, and community transformation through fundraising and leadership development.

What started as a one-person operation quickly grew into a six-member team, each bringing their expertise in adult learning, HR, community engagement, curriculum design, and office management. Today, we're not just serving a single client but averaging 13 clients every quarter with services ranging from DEI Strategy and thought partnership to change direction, facilitation, learning design, and coaching.

Being flexible has been our motto - starting virtual, then shifting to a hybrid approach when necessary. We stand alongside every other industry, adapting and evolving. The Learning Curve

There's been a lot to learn on this journey; one thing that stands out is that asking for help is OK. I know a lot of us think that we can do it all on our own, but the fact is, LIFE HAPPENS, and we should connect with people in our circle to help us feel grounded when things start to feel like we’re on thin ice. Openness and full transparency led us to grow into the vibrant team we are today. We planned for success, communicated effectively, acknowledged setbacks, and implemented systems for efficiency and sustainability.

One critical lesson was realizing that we can’t be everything to all our clients. We are passionate and great at what we do, and if it's outside of our purview, our network of colleagues is there to fill in the gaps and assist in any matter.

Also, setting realistic expectations upfront instead of jumping straight to action (as some clients want results immediately) has allowed us to meet our client's needs without disrupting the process so we can work proactively without stress.

And above all, no matter the situation, rest is a must. Running on empty serves no one, as you can’t help anyone else if you are not fully rested yourself. Taking time off to relax, reassess, and re-energize your body is a must in this profession. If you feel overwhelmed, stressed, and unmotivated, that is exactly what needs to be done to be your best version.

The Motivational Client Experiences The EMBOLDEN Action journey would be incomplete without our clients' incredible experiences and success stories, which fuel us to keep doing what we are doing.

I want to share a few quotes that truly warm my heart:

Milestones

Every year in business is a milestone. And yes, I'm particularly proud of my coaching achievements and assessment certifications that I have gained along the way. Also, I now have a strong and successful team that makes up EMBOLDEN Action is a massive win. I appreciate working with passionate individuals who care about creating positive change for others. Although I did the unthinkable this year, I made my first podcast to share my knowledge. As were all my "firsts" –my first blog or public speaking engagement, this is a milestone.

Each 'first' marks a new chapter in anyone's story. You must make the BOLD decision and be willing to take action that could lead you down a thrilling new path of possibilities for success.

Life Epiphanies

The most valuable lessons come not from professional achievements but from those moments of clarity that change how we see the world. The realizations I've shared today mirror the epiphanies I've had throughout my journey.

As I continue to embark on this invigorating adventure of transformation and growth at EMBOLDEN Action, personally and professionally, I want you to be part of it as we all move forward toward a more successful and fulfilling life.

Here's to the triumphs and trials and the many more to come!
